This painting "LANDSCAPE WITH LAKE" is inspired by a painting by Washington Allston.
Washington Allston (1779-1843) was America's first important painter of the Romantic movement. He created landscapes, historical scenes, and literary pieces that exude dramatic terror as well as quiet mystery. Allston was sometimes called the "American Titian" because his style resembled the great Venetian Renaissance artists in their display of dramatic colour contrasts. His work greatly influenced the development of US landscape painting.
Some of his notable paintings are Landscape with Lake, Italian Landscape, Elijah in the Desert, Storm Rising at sea, Moonlit Landscape, etc.
