“THE HUNT” is a painting done with watercolour
and ink on Imperial size, 300gsm/140 lb, Arches 100% cotton watercolour paper.
This is an inspiration from the Phad style of painting.
Phad painting is a 700-year folk art form that originated in the Shahpura region of Rajasthan, India.
The paintings are large, narrative scroll
paintings that depict the stories of local deities and heroes.
The paintings are with bold lines, bright
colours and details. Traditionally the paintings are done on a large piece of
cloth that has been treated with starch. Natural pigments were used.
The figures are stylised with large eyes and
expressive faces.
Here in this painting the king and
his party are proceeding for a hunt.
